The new AirPods deliver the wireless headphone experience, reimagined. Just pull them out of the charging case and they’re ready to use with your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac. After a simple, one-tap setup, AirPods work like magic. They’re automatically on and always connected. AirPods can even sense when they’re in your ears and pause when you take them out. To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, simply say “Hey Siri” and make your request. You have the freedom to wear one or both AirPods, and you can play or skip forward with a double-tap when listening to music or podcasts.

More magical than ever.

AirPods deliver 5 hours of listening time¹ and 3 hours of talk time on a single charge.² And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.³ Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening time⁴ or 2 hours of talk time.⁵

Powered by the all-new Apple H1 headphone chip, AirPods use optical sensors and motion accelerometers to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the H1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional speech-detecting accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out external noise and focus on the sound of your voice.

Much improved from original version. Connects faster. Not sure if it sounds any better the before.

Some folks think that if you’re sporting Apple’s wireless earbuds, you are just trying to “look cool”. While you WILL look awesome with these bad boys, that’s not the reason to buy them!

They are the high-quality type of product you’d expect from Apple. Even though they’re very lightweight and feel like they could fly out of your ears at any second, they are surprisingly sturdy and have yet to come out uninvited (unless you forget to take them out whilst taking off a shirt).

They last a good little bit but never fear those long uses. After a pile of minutes in the handy case/charger, you’ll be back in business. Here’s a quick battery warning: if you do not return the buds to the charger, they will die. The case, however, can recharge them for several different uses. I probably use them at least 3-4 hours a day and can get through almost the entire week without recharging the case. This model has the wireless charging capability as well, so if you’re down with that tech, you’re set.

The sound is really good for what these are. You don’t have some big cups a la Beats, so it’s tough to get the nice heavy bass sound and some of the depth of the mid-range. That being said, they try their best and you do get some pretty sweet quality.

The mics seem fine. I’ve had complaints of echoes (couldn’t figure out other than disconnect/reconnect) on very rare occasion. Most of the time, folks can hear my AC blasting in the heat of summer, but it apparently does not diminish the quality of the voice.

The only complaint I have is that you sometimes have BlueTooth connectivity issues if you’re rolling with an Apple Watch as well. A couple of rules that seem to make things more consistent: Always connect them while on the home screen, wait until you see the AirPods screen before taking a pod out, listen for the chime that lets you know it detected being in your ear, and then you’re good to go. There is a slight learning curve with these, but once you get the system down, you have some amazing sound from a really convenient device.

  4. Game-Changing Truly Wireless Headphones

After using the AirPods for several hours a day for a month, there’s a lot to like about Apple’s first foray into truly wireless headphones. I used the AirPods just one bud at a time while listening to music/podcasts and for short phone calls in an office setting.
Bluetooth Connection: Due to Apple’s W1 chip, the bluetooth connection is very strong, seemingly up to and beyond 30-50 feet. I was able to walk downstairs in a building and still maintain connection while my iPhone was still on the second floor. Also, the phone reception seems strong as whenever I was on the phone people generally heard me fine.

Auto Stop: If you’re listening to music and you remove one of the buds, whatever you’re listening to will stop automatically due to sensors in the buds. I’ve used this feature countless times, especially whenenver someone starts a conversation with me while I’m listening to music while sitting at my desk. Now I just remove the buds(s) and I don’t have to worry about fumbling around for the “pause” button either on my headphones or iPhone.

Single Pod: I nearly always use the AirPods just one bud at a time, both in an effort to conserve battery life and to be more aware of my surroundings. This is a huge plus for me, since I’m used to the neckband-style headphones in which one of the buds was never used (and usually just dangled down the front of my shirt). Also a plus is that there’s a microphone in both buds, rather than just a single one.

Case: An underrated element of the AirPods is the thing that you don’t actually put in your ears. It’s the charging case. This thing will always be by your side, because once you take one of the buds out, there’s nowhere to put it without risk of losing it. The buds magnetically lock into place in the case, so once they’re in, they’re not going anywhere, even with the case lid open. The case itself could feel a little sturdier as you’ll almost want to buy a case for your case, but it’s a great way to keep both pods and the charging system all in one little package that’s barely larger than a pack of floss.

Charging: Whenever you put the buds in the case, they’ll automatically start changing. And these things charge fast. I placed one bud in the case once its battery life was down to 11% remaining and in exactly 10 mins it was already up to 77%. You do have to charge the case itself occasionally, but as long as you have the case around, the 5-hour battery life will never become an issue.

Pairing: Thanks to Apple’s W1 chip, these are the easiest bluetooth headphones to pair for iOS devices. For intial pairing, simply open the top of the charging case next to your iOS device, tap “connect” on the popup, and that’s it. No messing around in the Settings section of your device, no holding a combination of buttons a certain number of seconds. And everytime after that, simply remove the bud(s) from the case, place it in your ear, and you’ll be automatically connected.

Convenience: This might be the AirPods’ biggest pro. I’m not sure the convenience of a truly wireless experience and automatic pairing can be overstated. Being able to pop a single bud in your ear, have it connect automatically, and almost always have a full battery is like magic. Taking the headphones off and not having to turn them off/on is also a nice cherry on top.

Fit/Comfort/Audio Quality: I have this listed as both a pro and a con. Simply put, these aren’t the most comfortable or best-fitting set of headphones. The one-size-fits-all approach means these are going to fit similarly to the Apple Earbuds that come for free with every iPhone, and they’re going to sound basically identical. However, I will say that despite what it looks like, these things aren’t going to fall out of your ears (even if they may feel like it at times), and they sound good enough for being truly wireless. Ambient noise is inevitable since they aren’t noise-cancelling and aren’t shoved deep into the eardrum, but that’s a personal plus for me. I also find the buds sometimes rubbing up against my beard, creating a bit of a popping noise, so I’ll have to readjust when that happens.
    Fit/Comfort/Audio Quality: See above.

Price: These things aren’t cheap. $160 for headphones that sound similar to the same pair that you received for free with your last iPhone? You’re not really paying for premier sound quality as much as you’re paying for the convenience factor.

Lack of Physical Controls: There are no physical controls on the AirPods, so if you want to skip a track or change volume, you’ll have to do on your actual iOS device. However, you can use the AirPods to play/pause or call up Siri, which brings me to….

    The Double-Tap:
This might be my biggest gripe with the AirPods – the double-tap should work while wearing an AirPod and giving it two sharp taps, which will either summon Siri or play/pause (depending on your settings). But it doesn’t work for me a lot of the time and I resort to making these changes on my iPhone. I hope that the AirPods 2 or a software update either improves the double tap, or allows for some new gesture controls that make it easier to change volume, skip track, etc.

Color: Yes, the white is Apple’s bread-and-butter color, but it would have been nice to have a space gray/black option like the iPhone lineup.

Fragility/Wax Buildup: Fragile might be the wrong word, but I live in fear of dropping an AirPod in the street, down a sewer grate, or anytime I get up and start walking around. Irrational perhaps, but the neckband headphones do provide a sense of security. I also find myself carrying around a microfiber cloth and cotton swab to clean off the AirPods whenever I take them off, since these things get ear wax on and in them just like the Earpods.
All in all, I’ve enjoyed the AirPods. The auto pairing, the convenience, the case, the sound quality, and the lack of wires all contribute to a great product. They could be better (physical controls, shorter stem, more color options, maybe $15-20 less expensive, a comply eartip version).

If you’re looking for something with similar features, but you want more bass, longer battery, then check out the BeatsX. I almost went with that option, but I really didn’t want to deal with any more wires.

I recommend these over neckband headphones, especially in a office setting. For truly wireless headphones, these are among the best in the market, especially if you already live in the Apple ecosystem.

  5. Favorite headphone by far

I have gone through so many headphones and speakers just because I am never satisfied! And I have found the speaker and headphones I can recommend. First off these headphones DO NOT fall out of my ears, I unload trailers and load trucks and NOT once have they fallen! If you’re scared of losing your headphones well you probably need to take care of your stuff better. Second, I absolutely love that the case charges them! They last about 4 1/2 hours on music playtime and I can charge them for 10-15 minutes on my break and be perfectly fine again! Which is excellent to me because no other headphones can do that for me! The case I probably charge once a week as well!

I do recommend buying a little pouch case for your headphone case, I bought one off amazon just because I didn’t want lint or anything getting the case or headphones dirty and it was worth it. I also love the instant connection to your phone it gives as soon as you open the case and it shows you the battery life as well.

Also if you pull out a headphone the music automatically stops, so in case everyone’s concerned about your earphone falling out lol.. Overall this is a great product!

Especially for the price, like I said I have tried many brands. And I also loved my Powerbeats but when they recently started tearing I wasn’t willing to spend $200+ on the new ones! I love no wires and and am truly satisfied with the product

Only thing I didn’t like was it doesn’t come with a cleaning cloth lol and also wish they came in black! Other than that the sound is great and it’s a great product!

    Favorite headphone by far

I love everything about these airpods!!! I’ve only used these for about two weeks from when I post this and they are perfect. No matter what I do they stay in my ears, and the sound is great compared to almost any other wireless earbud. I think the big kicker here is the accessibility of these. Unlike almost any other Bluetooth headphone, these things just connect, and start working immideaty when they go into your ear! Along side this, changing and battery life is awesome! I usually keep my airpods inside its case whenever I’m not using them. The charging is quick and simple, and they are back 100 percent in minutes. At the moment I’ve gone about 3 days without charging the case and after constant use, it’s only gone down to 50%. The only cons that I can really say for these are 1. Sound quality (if you care for something that has more than just average wired earpod quality) 2. Popping (only in the sense that they pop ever so often only when starting and stopping the occasional YouTube video) and 3. The looks. My biggest problem with these were the looks. The white makes them show much than they already should, and the white gloss can collect a lot of scratches. I easily fixed this problem by just getting a black case and skin (photos below) and they look so much nicer and the airpods look almost half as small. To sum these up…totally worth 160 bucks!

  7. Love this

Air pods are amazing. The sound is crisp and clear. The mic on the AirPods is top notch. All of my calls so far have been excellent. I do have 2 issues though.

    1. I wish there were a way to adjust your volume.

    2. They are too big for my small ears. I purchased some ear clips on Amazon, and now I wear them constantly, and they never fall out.

    Love this

  8. Best Workout Earbuds!!!

I replaced my wireless Bose Soundsport earbuds with these Apple AirPods and really glad I did. I ordered ear adapters for these earbuds and they do not fall out at all. I tried to make them fall out and they stayed in place. Because they have no cords attaching them to one another the buds stay in place. I have ran multiple times and they stay in place, the longest run was over a 10K and I never had to re-adjust. They would be great for even High Intensity workouts.

    Best Workout Earbuds!!!

  9. Audio Experience

An easy and convenient setup for Apple products that provides great audio with an exceptional battery life. This wholly describes the Apple AirPods. These lightweight dynamos along with the Apple Ecosystem experience provided makes these the primary choice for an Apple owner. The fit is similar to the EarPods, but stay in better without the cords connected. Charging is quick and easy with the included charge case. Music audio and call audio (and the mic for talking) are great. Watch video is great as well. So many great features is such a small package. Well worth the purchase.

    Audio Experience

  10. Awesome

So Apple’s headphone have been the only ones that fit me perfectly! They are by far the most comfortable airbuds I have ever tried or owned. Period. So i was skeptical about the wire free bluetooth stlye based off of potential loss but the took care of that aa well… a certain degree. They can track the charging box and not the individual airbud(s).

Now I know that are not rated for water/moisture but I use them to workout and run and they still work! 1 side has kicked out before but there has not be any damage and I assume it is due to that bud not having full power.

And did I mention I have/use Samsung?! Yes…it works with Android and there is an app in the Google Play store that works just like the native iOS on iPhone which would give you feedback on the charge level if the case and each bud!

    Love this product!

  11. Apple Sheep

Call me an Apple sheep but thats ok. These 1st Gen Airpods are the best decision I’ve made as it relates to wireless headphones.

They fit in my ears comfortably and the volume is very loud.

I have absolutely no issues with the connection or the battery life of these Airpods. I charge my case surprisingly once every week and half. Battery life for me is really great.

    Apple Sheep

  12. Great product for Apple users especially

It didn’t take long after buying my AirPods for me to realize how Great a product they are, for Apple users especially. I’m not saying there’s no room for improvement, it’s Apple after all who might as well schedule their improvement jobs etc in advance ha! Either way the idea and concept are definitly headed in the right direction and I loved some of the few small features.

Great product for Apple users especially

  13. really good but pricey

Super easy to setup. Connects & switches in seconds between Apple devices w/o having to go to Bluetooth settings. Easy to check batteries’ statuses (left, right, charging case). Great design. Comfortable to the point of not realizing they’re in; much better than those neckband devices. Was concerned about them slipping out of my ears, but they never have (I haven’t run with them) yet. Like EarPods, great highs & lows while still hearing what’s going on around you. REALLY good battery life. Easy access to Siri via double tap. Find My iPhone app will even locate it if lost.

Warning: NOT COMPATIBLE WITH iPOD NANO. (iPod Touch, yes.) No onboard volume control (via charging case buttons would’ve been nice); must raise/lower volume on Apple Watch, iOS device, or Mac. Siri can adjust volume too, I think, but I’d rather do it manually than have to speak.

Bonus for those who listen to a lot of audiobooks, news, podcasts, spoken word in general, and other media which don’t require 2-channel stereo: You can double your listening time by using one AirPod at a time. Safe to do while driving/cycling, plus you can place & take phone calls with ease.

If you plan to buy this, do it via Best Buy and not Apple’s website or Apple Store app. Whereas Apple ships in 6 weeks (at the time of this review), Best Buy ships in 8 days, and for the same price.

tl;dr- Not very easily affordable, but I am overall very much pleased with this product.

    really good but pricey

  14. Outstanding Functionality & Convenience!

The Apple AirPods are brilliantly engineered & are unique in so many ways. Audio quality is excellent; tap on the AirPod to access Siri; no wires; insert either or both & you are connected accordingly. Self charge in the case with internal Li-Ion battery; noise cancellation works great!

I can only identify one negative: The strong magnet built in the case that retains the 2) AirPods is so strong, it is very difficult for an individual with large fingers & thumb to grasp the super slick & curved AirPods to remove them! They keep sliding away from your fingers, occasionally lifting up 1/2 inch out of the case, only to be sucked back into the case by the over zealous magnet. There needs to be a release button that would push the AirPods away from the magnet about 1/4″. This would make it much easier to lift them out of the case.

    Outstanding Functionality & Convenience!

  15. Why did I wait so long to buy these?!

I tried so hard to not buy these headphones, thinking that if I was going to pay $160, I wanted better sound quality than the normal EarPods the come with the iPhone in the box. However, I have been in the market for some wireless earbuds for a while. I don’t like beats headphones, have traditionally loved Bose headphones but their wireless earbuds are pretty bulky for wireless headphones. I do a lot of travel for work and I need them to be highly portable and easy for me to sleep on the plane with. The Bose SoundSport headphones just didn’t do it. Not to mention, it is $50 for their charging case alone AND i’d still need to tote around a micro-USB cable to charge the headphones or the case.

The AirPods have made life super easy! The sound quality is essentially the same as the EarPods, which isn’t bad at all but can sometimes suffer in noisy areas as they don’t really do noise isolation very well unless you’re on the phone. It’s also mad convenient how the charging case comes with the headphones AND charges with a lightning cable, meaning no extra cable is needed and I can use them same cable as my phone! The entire experience with them has been so seamless and this is exactly why Apple is the powerhouse they are today. I try not to be an Apple FanBoy but c’mon, they make it so easy!

Why did I wait so long to buy these?!

  16. They fit

*They seem to be very high quaility.
*The Audio is great — as expected, similar to the normal pods.
    *Very light.
*When using the case, the airpods last for a long time.
*Fit my left ear decently but fell out of my right ear. Had to buy Earhoox to maintain fit. These ‘Earhoox’ do not allow the airpods to fit in the case so it requires them to be removed each time.
    *Friggin expensive.

Overall, I’m keeping them I love the quality and removing the earhoox is worth the flair to me. Very happy with the purchase. I bought an extra case to hold my earhoox and my airpods. Also happy with that.

  17. Suzanne Simmons

Convenient, reliable, wonderful sound quality, siri addition to the AirPod 2s is like having a personal assistant in your head. So comfortable that I frequently forget I’m wearing them.

I was on the fence about buying AirPods for the last two years. Do yourself a favor and try a friend’s if you’re on the fence.

    Suzanne Simmons

  18. Eva Scott

The Apple AirPods are still a perfectly respectable pair of true wireless earbuds. With decent sound quality and seamless device pairing, all you have to worry about is if they fit your ears and if you can deal with the lack of an in-line remote to control your music.

I was on the fence for a while on buying airpods. I recommend buying airpods if you have an apple watch and iPhone. It connects very well for both devices and is fluid if you switch between both of them.

The price to get the airpods with the wireless charging case was too good to pass up. I got the official apple airpods. The box was sealed, and it had everything, including the charger at the bottom.

They synced automatically to my iPhone and apple watch and were added to my list of Apple devices without me doing so. The charging case works well, and chargers with any wireless charging station (I have the JBL PowerUP Speakers, with wireless charging-airpods charges just fine on it). It’s very convenient since I lack the available outlets and USB port space to charge all my devices. Also, I’m guilty of forgetting to plug in my devices to charge, so it is so much easier to just place the airpods on my wireless charging station and let it do its magic.

The sound quality is pretty good. I haven’t had to use the airpods at maximum volume to cancel out noise. I’m also surprised by how well they stay in my ear. I have small ears and I was so happy how well they fit in my ear with no discomfort. Longwear is definitely doable with these headphones, and it makes ideal since the airpods 2 have better battery life and last for a long time.

Overall, airpods are a good investment for wireless headphones. Small and compact-great for commuters. The price is great for the quality compared to other headphones like the beats headphones. You won’t be able to get this kind of deal anywhere else.

I have been using various wireless & bluetooth products for a while. I got these yesterday and they are amazing. They automatically turn on the second you pull them out of the case. By the time they are in your ear, they are connected to my iphone and are ready to use. In my iphone, I can configure each ear to do a specific task right in the phone settings without any special software. I doubletap my left ear and I activate siri and I can doubletap my right ear to play/pause whatever I am listening/watching. I went on a walk and there was a light breeze. I called someone on the phone to see how the noise cancellation was and they couldnt hear the wind. They did hear a car go by but thats to be expected. I cannot comment on battery life yet, but I can confirm the wireless charging case works with any Qi wireless charging pad. The pad charges the case and the case charges the earbuds. This means you can charge your earbuds just by having them in a charged case, no matter where you are. Really cool. I also want to mention that if the regular wired earpods fit your ears really good, these will also fit well. From what I can tell, they are the same size, if not a hair larger but I cannot tell by looking at them. They dont wiggle around in my ear and they don’t feel loose. I feel like I could easily go on a jog and they’d stay in.

  25. Rosie Briggs

I am happy purchased them after reviewing products for weeks. Preferred these cuz if they are out of the case you can tone them up and find them, however if they are in the case you can’t. Battery life has been great for me, 3hrs for ears, 24hrs for case that recharges the ears. Noise canceling isn’t really a thing with these, I can still hear music in the gym if I have them in and don’t play music, but when music plays it blocks out noise well. The old apple style head phones used to hurt my ears, and these still do too, but a nifty trick is to put the opposite one in the ear upside down and they are much more comfortable for long term wear, but you can’t talk in them like that. I got a glow in the dark case with a key ring and I haven’t lost them since I bought them a couple months ago. I enjoy the wireless charging cuz I have two wireless charging pads in my house.

  26. Angel Brown

I love my Airpods 2. It automatically connects when you put them on and the sound quality is absolutely amazing. The battery life is crazy long especially with the wirelessly charging case. The double tap feature is extremely easy to work with and if you need anything else you have Siri to help you out. Apple enthusiasts look no further, just grab your pair now because you should have already!
